“My name is Julia Davies and I’m an American that has lived in Sarajevo since September, working as an intern with an international peacebuilding organization, Peace Catalyst International (PCI), as well as in War Childhood Museum. As part of the internship, I have been involved in local peacebuilding work, which is how I found Progres. Before coming here, I studied and conducted research in Rwanda on post-genocide restoration and peacebuilding. My undergraduate thesis focused on the politicalization of memories, memorialization, and state-sponsored history, measuring their role in aiding and hindering reconciliation.
That background led me to Sarajevo, and I am so excited to join Progres. I look forward to learning more about how to communicate the complexities of remembrance, trauma-informed peacebuilding, and the opportunity to engage more with youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina!”
